
About the Role
As a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer / Graduate Engineering Geologist, you will work as part of our technical delivery team, contributing to a broad range of geotechnical projects across investigation, assessment, design and reporting. Key responsibilities include:
Supporting site investigations, fieldwork and data collection
Assisting with logging, sampling and factual recording
Processing and interpreting geotechnical data
Contributing to ground models, analysis and design tasks under senior guidance
Assisting with preparation of reports and technical deliverables
Undertaking construction inspections and quality control
Working in accordance with quality, health, safety and environmental systems
Developing strong professional communication skills with internal teams and clients
Actively engaging in professional development and CPD
You’ll receive close support, structured development, and regular feedback to help you build confidence, capability and professional judgement, progressing toward independent project delivery over time.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology (or nearing completion)
Graduate Membership of Engineering New Zealand (or eligibility to join)
Strong interest in geotechnical practice, investigation, design and applied engineering geology
Good IT capability, including competence with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word), ability to work confidently with data, and willingness to learn specialist geotechnical and GIS software
Ability to work both independently (with support) and collaboratively as part of a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
Commitment to safe work practices and quality processes
Eligibility to work in New Zealand and a full NZ driver’s licence (fieldwork component
